We went to Disney World Parks on our Spring Break. The kids were ecstatic when we finally crossed into the first park of our Disney adventure, Animal Kingdom. However, I was less than enthusiastic about the crowds and long lines. Never had I seen so many people converge in one place! My husband got us Disney Fast Passes, but the Fast Pass to the main ride, Kilimanjaro Safaris, had run out. We were pretty disappointed because this ride allows the visitors to see the main animal attractions at the Animal Kingdom. The wait for the ride was 90 minutes, and the kids would not want to wait so ... Read the Post
Connecting Faith
I let my kids play on my phone sometimes. I’m vaguely aware of the few games that I’ve downloaded. I know they are learning games that keep them challenged. Today, we began our family vacation for Spring Break, and I found myself bored on my flight. So I decided to look at what games were on my phone to see if any of them were interesting enough to pass the time. I found one that I didn’t quite understand at first. Several color-coded dots were displayed on the screen in some sort of diagram, and I was supposed to connect the matching colored dots in lines without crisscrossing on the ... Read the Post
Dog Biscuits in a Bowl
My dachshund, Rusty, is a dog food snob. He would rather beg table food or chomp down dog biscuits than eat his healthy, tailored made dog food. One morning before leaving the house, I wanted to give Rusty a couple of his favorite dog biscuits. However, it was a cold day, so he was upstairs in our bed, snuggled up under the covers. I decided to leave him his favorite snacks downstairs, so when hunger and thirst forced him out of his comfortable slumber, he would have the biscuits waiting for him. I placed his two delicious treats in his dog dish--right on top of his usually ignored dog ... Read the Post
The Prayer and the Affirmation
Kerry: One of the most beautiful aspects of being part of the Body of Christ is watching God work through our personal obedience. I’m learning to listen and obey that still, small voice of the Holy Spirit. Often the Lord directs us to action – prayer, service, edification, encouragement – for someone else, just when that person needs it. “…praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints…” (Ephesians 6:18, NKJV). A couple of months ago the Holy Spirit gave me a clear directive to pray. ... Read the Post
Delays in God’s Promise: An Encouragement
We are just few weeks into the New Year. There are doubts as well as high hopes we experience--a bit of a mix in our emotions. What hope and aspirations do we hold dear? Do we have faith that God will honour His promises concerning our lives? I woke up sleepless about 1 a.m. on a Wednesday morning. I had some running concerns in my home. Having a nudge to do some study and pray, I dwelled deeply on Numbers 23:19. "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" ... Read the Post
Listening And
During my prayer time with God this week, we talked about how difficult it is for me to slow down and listen to Him. I find myself often rushing through my prayers as if it were something on a check list and then moving on to something else. I realize that many of my prayers are me talking at God, rather than with God. God reminded me of a time when I listened and how two lives were changed in the process. As I drove home from my visit with him, I was sad and discouraged. Despite my attempts to help him, he continued to make regrettable life decisions. For the first two hours of my drive ...
