“Life takes us in so many different directions; never doubt for one minute that I am not with you in spirit. You are always on my mind! You are the one constant in my life who I know is always there. I don't step often out of fear of feeling my circumstances; but also because so many people rely upon me that I have to keep going. God gives me the strength to keep a positive and supportive attitude. I feel as if I'm in a little garden with a ten-mile radius and within that ten miles I sow, I prune, I support, I feed, and I weed. All are just a little part of life.” My sister sent this quote to ... Read the Post
Fall: A New Season
Fall is my favorite season, though living in South Texas we do not get much of a fall until January. But that is another story. What I love about the fall is that everything is new again. The kids are back in school after a long summer. The trees are changing colors (okay if you are in the hill country the leaves are colorful). You pack away the summer towels and water toys, and you bring out the fall decorations. I’ve heard it said that the fall is like the New Year for women. It is time to reevaluate our priorities and goals. It’s the beginning of things that we’ve put off. It’s a new ... Read the Post
Feelings of Adoption
It’s been several years since my husband and I made a trip half way around the world to bring home our baby boy from Russia. As I look back at the beginning phase of the adoption process, I realize just how overwhelming, exciting, and stressful that time was. I felt like I was expericeing the emotions of a real pregnancy, except with tons and tons of paperwork. Our adoption did not take nine months like a traditional pregnancy; no, it took about a year and a half. I was tired. But it was worth it. We have a strong, healthy and energetic little boy that loves life. However, I did have ... Read the Post
Five Minute Pity Party
People just love pity parties. They are so fun and jam-packed with complaining, whining, and lots of comparing. However, we have to be in a special mood to partake in such a party. I try to make my appearance rare to these parties, but occasionally I find myself being pulled into them. I at least try to limit my stay for only five minutes. Granted there are times when I want to stay longer, but I try really hard to stick with the five minute rule. What do these parties have that are so intriguing? They are full of “I want,” “I don’t have,” “Why” and “That is so not fair!” I have to admit ... Read the Post
I Want My Daddy
The words of a toddler: “I want Daddy! Where is my daddy?” I know it is normal for toddlers to go through stages where they prefer one parent to the other. Sometimes it is hard when you are not the parent they are wanting. My little boy wants to ride in Daddy’s truck, run with Daddy, go fly with Daddy, and, especially, go potty with Daddy. Sometimes it can get exhausting explaining to him that Daddy is not here or that he is out of town for a few days. He wants his daddy NOW, and he will throw a fit. We are like that too. I find myself wanting my Daddy – my Heavenly Father. Many times I ... Read the Post
