Have you ever prayed, “Lord please just send me one friend who I can talk to, hang out with, laugh, cry, and just have fun with?” I have. I’ve learned that it is so hard to cultivate friendships as I’ve gotten older. It used to be so easy to form friendships when I was a kid. I would just walk up to a girl that I found interesting, or my teacher would partner me up with a girl and we would instantly become best friends. As an adult, though, I would look a little weird if I walked up to someone and say, “Hey! Let’s go play.” The story of Ruth and Naomi is a beautiful story of how two adult ... Read the Post
Picture Perfect Puzzle
I love puzzles! I especially love the 1,000 piece puzzles. I have three beautiful Thomas Kinkade puzzles matted, framed, and on display in my house. It’s the only way I can actually afford one of his paintings. With each framed puzzle, I can recall exactly what I was going through during that season of my life. Each puzzle reminds me of the struggles I was experiencing and what I was doing to figure out the solutions. They are each like a personal testimony of my life. The last two months I’ve managed to work on two puzzles. I’m going thought a lot! Right now my life feels like a puzzle and ... Read the Post
Seasoned Church Member
My family and I have been with our church since the beginning stages when there were roughly 125 members. We knew just about everyone in the church. I remember when we had only one Home Team and now Home Teams are multiplying rapidly. Our church has grown in so many ways. We have matured in love and faith and encountered only a few growing pains along the way. My church's growth resembles my growth as a Christian in many ways. When I began going to church, I did not know the Bible or how to pray. I didn’t know how to journal my growth in Christ, and a “quiet time” was beyond my ... Read the Post
Staying Calm
My best friend is in town this week and for the last four days she and her two kids have spent time with me. I love visiting with her; it has been such a blessing. We haven’t been together like this in almost two years. She made comment the other day about how calm I am through all the adventures of raising a teenager, a preteen and a toddler; and that she is often not as calm. She said that I have had a calming attitude since she has known me. Okay, I would just like to know who is she talking about, and where can I find this woman that she’s describing. I really do not consider myself a ... Read the Post
On The Path
We went on a family vacation to Colorado and we carved out a morning to go snowmobiling. During our play time, we were allowed to ride our snowmobiles as fast as we wanted. Before we took off, our guide had us follow him along 2 paths that did a figure 8 of where we could go. He also said to be careful and not to go left or right of the path because you could get lost amongst the trees. He made the comment that there have been others who have gone off the path and have gotten lost and did not know how to get out. I thought he was just trying to scare us. I was so excited during our play ... Read the Post
