My daughter is determined and dedicated when it comes to sports. At the ripe old age of fourteen, she has earned more first place ribbons and medals in two years than I have in my lifetime. As she began considering the path she wanted to take in high school sports, she opted for cheerleading. With only two and a half months to prepare for tryouts, she went full-force into tumbling classes and private lessons. Her instructor could not believe her work ethic and drive to succeed. When the day of tryouts came, my daughter felt confident and excited. She knew the hard work and perseverance ... Read the Post
God's Representative
I believe that every day we have choices to show Christ’s love. Today that opportunity came as I was picking up a few items at our neighborhood grocery store. I approached the checkout stand knowing full well that I had basically five minutes to pick up my daughter from school. Looking at the three person line in front of me, I had to make a choice. Should I go for the express lane knowing that I had too many items, should I ask someone if I could go in front of them, or should I just be late picking up my daughter? Suddenly, my knight-in-shining-armor came forward and said, “I’m opening ... Read the Post
The King's Daughter
As my pastor began his series called “The Chosen One,” I was expecting to sit and listen to all the wonderful things God has done with men and women of the Bible. I wasn’t expecting to be hit over the head with the reality that I am also “The Chosen One.” My pastor said, “You are royalty, and you need to start believing it.” It makes me cry just writing those words. Why do I keep missing this point throughout my walk as a Christian? I tend to minimize the gifts and abilities God has given me. I always think to myself, “Well, God can certainly use so and so; he is such a talented person.” Or ... Read the Post
There's Only One Judge
I have the dearest, sweetest mother-in-law you could ever find. Our relationship is one that I value and cherish more each and every year. Recently while on a visit with her, I noticed that she was gossiping quite a bit. This was not like her at all. Over the course of the evening, it seemed that the gossip worsened. I finally had enough and I confronted her. The moment that the accusation left my lips, I knew I had crossed over a sacred mother-in-law, daughter-in-law line that should never be crossed. She defended herself, and I awkwardly tried to explain my reasons of dislike toward her ... Read the Post
Thank You, Lord, For Picking Us Up
This morning I was reminded how precious my God is and how He really cares for us as a loving Father. My five year old daughter was getting out of the car to run into school. I say run because she only has one speed and walking is not one of them. I always wait in my car until she gets into the building and this morning wasn’t any different. She saw a friend and started waving as she was running and didn’t notice she was coming into wet grass. At about 6o miles per hour she fell flat on her belly and slid as if she were closing in on home plate. I was watching from about twenty-five yards ... Read the Post
