For a long time, I believed that God was able to show His power tangibly to people but just not to me. I had come to the conclusion that I wasn’t on His radar, but I was totally okay with experiencing His power vicariously through others.
One day I was taking my 3 small children around our neighborhood for a walk. My 4 and 6 year old were slowly riding their bikes, and I was pulling my 2 year old in a red wagon. I had to be very careful because our neighborhood does not have sidewalks, so we all had to use the street.
After about 20 minutes, my older 2 kids starting crying because their little legs were exhausted from pedaling their bikes on the street. My 6-year-old son started speeding up towards the house and my 4-year-old started lagging behind. I was frantic because we were still about 15 minutes away from the house.
I knew if I didn’t get the situation under control one of my kids might run towards a moving car, and I wouldn’t be able to get them in time. I couldn’t leave my 2 year old alone in the wagon to run after my other kids because he was also trying to get out.
I desperately wanted some type of string or rope. I knew I could tie the 2 bikes to the wagon, and I could pull all three kids home and ensure none of my kids ran out into traffic. My children started crying louder and running and speeding a way from me, so I called out to God. I told Him to show Himself to me.
I knew He could do it. I’ve heard stories of Him showing His power to my friends and read about it in hundreds of books. I cried out to Him and said, “Please, just give me some twine or something!”
I walked a couple steps and looked down to see an entire spool of twine laying in the gutter of our neighborhood street. I couldn’t believe it! God showed His power to me in a REAL Way!!!
I picked up the spool and tied both bikes to the back of the wagon and proceeded to pull my 3 kids home. My older two kids were so happy not having to pedal their bikes, and I was happy to have control over the situation again.
But above all I was ecstatic that God showed His glory to me. I realized that God wants to show His glory to every single person, but we have to not set limits on His power. We will never see what we refuse to believe.
