I had to be put under for a dental procedure. My single wisdom tooth needed to be pulled, and I can say I was honestly more worried about going under anesthesia than I was having the procedure done. Would I be fully asleep? How would it feel? What really happens as my body slips into unconsciousness? I laid on the dental bed, surrounded by bright lights and white walls. The dental staff buzzed around me in their normal routine, wearing their little surgical masks. I prayed for them in my slurred speech affected by the laughing gas, and the nurse next to me whispered, "Amen." The real ... Read the Post
My Best Friend
I’ve realized that when God is your best friend, you can’t help but talk about Him. I remember when I struggled with talking about God and all the things He was showing me. I was uncomfortable, and I worried about what people would think. I had to push through my fears and literally force myself to pray in front of my kids, talk about the Bible to a friend or mention my faith to a stranger. Apparently, something happened through the years. I went to a book club meeting the other night. The women had read my book, Eve of Awakening, and invited me to answer questions and discuss my writing ... Read the Post
Unwise Tooth
I was talking to a tech guy at a computer store and somehow we got to chatting about my church. I explained to him that I loved my church, and I invited him to attend if he didn't already have a home church. He was gracious and explained that although he was a Christian, for personal reasons, he chose not to attend church. I desired to explain to him how much the church aspect of the Body of Christ has strengthened and transformed my faith, but no matter how I tried to explain my thoughts, I always came out sounding "religious." But how could I explain to this man that it's not about ... Read the Post
Glory Inside
I enjoy giving my kids massages about once a week. I know that the movement and light pressure on their skin and muscles help with the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems, thereby improving overall health. Plus, it's an excuse for me to love on them in a tangible way. My kids have gotten so used to their weekly rub downs that they run to the massage table with smiles and eagerly stretch out ready to relax. Once particular afternoon, the weather was very stormy. You could hear the rain beating down on the roof and the thunder rolling and lightening cracking outside. It was a great excuse ... Read the Post
Working it Out
When I had to buy a new step for the step aerobics I do at home, I noticed there was a new product at the sport’s store: a slanted step. I wondered how the slanted step differed from the flat one, so I figured I would buy it and see. I had a difficult time getting used to the slant. I constantly looked down at my feet to ensure I wasn’t about to fall off. And I was more careful doing the aerobic moves that used to be so easy for me. I felt like I was balancing more, and the full length of my foot never seemed to touch the step. I was always on the balls of my feet! Afterwards, I was ... Read the Post
