Do you struggle with keeping God’s word on your mind and by extension in your conversation? The Lord put this in my spirit to share. When you fix a cup of tea, you want to make it tolerable. The leaves are medicinal and benefit your body, but the taste is most often bitter and unpleasing to the palate.
Our life experiences and our stories can be the leaves. God told me that His word is the sweetener. Without it we can be intolerable to people. So how does something so bitter become sweet? God’s Word when submerged into our lives and swirled around several times by reading it daily makes our experiences sweeter. Hot water, tea leaves, and sweetener make a good cup of tea.
Your life impacted by salvation, mixed with the evidence of the Holy Spirit and added with fellowshipping with other believers makes a good life. God also appreciates our diversity. So by adding milk or cream, you slightly alter the taste of the tea, but it’s still sweet.
If you put the pot of tea in the refrigerator, you get iced tea. There is more than one way to spend time with the Lord. You can pray by kneeling, singing, sitting quietly, dancing before the Lord, or talking out loud. As long as our communication is authentic, God wants to hear from us.
When people encounter us, we have the ability leave the best impression that exists. We can smile, give eye contact, walk or sit upright; however, we should always radiate the Spirit of Christ. Let’s challenge ourselves daily to add God’s sweetener to our lives by communicating with Jesus and following His example.
Memory Verse:
“How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”
-Psalm 119:103 (NIV)
Prayer Prompt:
“Praise Your holy name, Lord. You are not the author of confusion, but the God of peace. Therefore, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight. Thank You for the privileged of kneeling before Your throne of grace. Let my light shine even when I don’t feel encouraged….”
