Gideon is one of my most favorite characters and I've written about him several times. Gideon was not an obvious warrior. In fact, he pleaded with the Lord that he was the least in all his family! However, God knew that with His strength He could make even Gideon a strong leader! This morning God taught me a fresh lesson that I'm looking forward to putting into practice starting today! Joshua has recently died and yet the children of Israel have already gotten away from serving the Lord their God. As a result of their sin, they were under attack by the Midianites. Under such distress they ... Read the Post
Stay Saved
The other day while reading the book of Hebrews, I came across chapter four which addressed the Sabbath Rest. I came to realize that the Sabbath Rest is where we’ll be with Jesus in our new heavenly home. In Chapter 3, we are reminded how the Israelites were purposely allowed to circle the desert for 40 years because they were a generation that angered God by their rebellion. If you know the story of the Israelites and Moses, you know that these people would drive any leader mad. THEY COMPLAINED ABOUT EVERYTHING. Though they saw the handiwork of God, they lacked faith in Him. Because of ... Read the Post
Good Gifts
God has given me so many wonderful gifts but today I have chosen to tell you about one that recently rocked my world. For years I have prayed that my oldest son, Michael, would come to know God intimately. My prayers went something like this: "Father, You know You have given my son an ability to learn and grasp knowledge with ease. Thank You, Father. Still, Lord, in all of that knowledge he is often a 'prove it to me' person. Please, Lord, I ask that he may hear Your spoken voice. Lord, from the beginning of our relationship You have given me visions and at times spoken aloud to me. I pray ... Read the Post
His Higher Ways
"How could your God let you go through this horrible tragedy in your life? Does He not love you?" My sister, a non-believer, said over the phone soon after my husband and I miscarried our second child a couple months ago. Though I had my share of difficulties in my life including abandonment and both physical and mental abuse, they were nothing compared to losing a child, so I understood what she meant and her frustration. Just few days before, a friend of mine told me a story of her friend who just lost a baby girl three hours after she was born due to a birth defect - having no ... Read the Post
The Lord Delights
Rebecca (my granddaughter) loves to sing and dance. She was anything but shy as she entertained the grandparents last Thanksgiving. Singing the ABC song, her eyes wandered across the room making sure all were watching her. Upon finishing everyone clapped – well, if they knew they were to do so. Unaware of the performer rules, I failed to follow them. Believe me it didn’t take her but a second to say, “Clap, Mamaw! Clap!” If only I had simply did as the others were doing: Clap, clap. “Good job, Rebecca.” Yesterday during my prayer time, I was worshipping the Lord with song. “I have come ... Read the Post
A Safe Dwelling
Sometimes, I struggle with irrational fears – What if my husband gets in a car accident on the way home today? Is my stomachache a tumor? Was that creaky noise in the living room a serial rapist? The enemy of my soul loves to agitate my mind. His delight is creating disruption and desolation. I know my Creator, God, is not the author of fear, so why do I give in to anxiety when my Father longs to fill me with His peace? I was reminded of this when I read an online news article about the aftermath in Haiti. Apparently, engineers have inspected several Haitian homes and declared them safe ... Read the Post
