When the stock market took a plunge recently, it reminded me to put my trust in the God who loves me. Looking back over my life, I can remember the times that God has carried me in ways that defy all reason.
In 1973, my children were 5 years old and 6 months old. After a trying situation at the hospital, I quit my job. Two weeks later, my husband was laid off his job. I really prayed for wisdom and another job.
After working for two weeks doing my notice before quitting, my supervisor tried to get me to take back my resignation. But I felt strongly that I should look for another job. The week I started looking for a job, out of the blue, the NASA dispensary supervisor called me for a temporary job on Sky lab.
I had applied for a job at the NASA dispensary two years before. She asked me to come in for an interview the next morning. After the interview, I was hired to start immediately at a very nice salary increase. The job lasted for 11 months and was the beginning of my new career as an occupational health nurse.
After the experience of working at the NASA dispensary, I was able to work in the Houston area in occupational health for several different companies for over 34 years. I have learned to trust God during times of crisis because He has proven Himself faithful in every circumstance.
Memory Verse:
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”
-Philippians 4:6 (NLT)
Prayer Prompt:
“Father, help me to rely on You when times get tough. I want to not worry but walk in obedience in accordance to the plan that You have for me. Help me to trust You during the good times and the bad, especially during the time of…”
