"When your heart is broken, you see cracks in everything." I remember hearing this line from a TV show called Felicity one night in college and I never forgot. It's probably because my heart was broken then from a thing called life and I cried many nights on my knees wondering if the pain would ever go away. My heartache was too much to bear and it felt like everything around me was broken indeed and I saw no hope. Our heart is a very interesting part of our body that is so strong and yet so delicate all at the same time. All our strength comes from our heart but it gets easily hurt and ... Read the Post
I Hear You
My brother in law, Kevin, had been going through a difficult time. His wife left him, he injured his back, his business wasn't thriving and he suffered a great financial loss. Now, the Kevin I know is very handsome, confident, athletic, healthy, positive, successful and of strong faith. One day I was discussing with my friend some of the difficulties Kevin was going through. She told me to text him the verse, Jeremiah 29:11. Later that afternoon, my husband called me and urgently told me to call his brother because he was having a breakdown. So I hesitantly hung up with my husband and ... Read the Post
A Plank in My Eye
While driving to work one day, a cell phone in my right hand and my left hand on the steering wheel, I came upon a line of slow moving cars. There wasn’t any reason for traffic to move slowly except the lead car was traveling a maximum of forty-five miles per hour. “I don’t believe this,” I said to my husband on the other end of the phone. “This person has three cars delayed because they refuse to drive the speed limit.” I couldn’t wait to find a passing zone on the rural farm-to-market road. Looking in the rear view mirror, I saw another fast moving car approach. “Make it four cars,” I ... Read the Post
The God Picture
Lately I’ve been trying to teach my older daughter about a bigger picture, like when I tell her, “As soon as you finish those sentences, you need to start alphabetizing your spelling words.” Then I go do a chore, giving her enough time to complete the first task and start on the next. When I come back to check on her, I find that though she finished the sentences, she did not start on her spelling words. Instead, she ran off to play with her younger sister. I ask her what she is doing and what she is supposed to be doing. She knows the answers. I explain to her that if I can’t trust her ... Read the Post
Dog Tale
Tonight I was invited to a BBQ with my two friends and two of their friends. It was very fun getting to know their friends, Kim and Yati. Throughout dinner we watched my friends’ black lab and Kim and Yati’s boxer running crazily around the backyard. We giggled at them and enjoyed learning more about each other and our daily activities. Dozer, the crazy boxer, was confined to the kennel for a short period of time. According to Kim and Yati, Dozer had quite the personality and was always a little rambunctious. Kim started laughing and then told us a story about Dozer earlier in the ... Read the Post
