Comments from certain family member can irk me so much that I fathom at the fiery darts -- knowing full well that these words are from satan, intent to make me useless to God through my reaction. As with any family, it’s easy to become offended at hurtful words, especially when their words intend to offend. Why? Because, they feel their opinion is worth airing despite the hurt it procures. It would be easy to retaliate. But is this right? And does it even help? According to the scripture, love covers a multitude of sin and shortcomings. But when this verbal or action-based sin is aimed ... Read the Post
A Little Reminder
It was going to be “one of those days.” I had overslept, and now I was frantically rushing around, trying to get ready for my “jam-packed, really busy, got lots to do” day! I left the house about 5 minutes late, and figured if I hit every signal “just right,” I’d make it to my first stop on time – my weekly Friday ministry at Freedom Village, an assisted living facility. Strength-training
Friends are great for making us feel good. And if you have any non-Christian friends like I do, their comments and compliments can even make us feel more acceptable in the secular world. The problem is they’ve only succeed in deceiving us. While their flattery and worldly point-of-view are enticing, something is amiss. Do they bring peace and contentment to your conversation? Do they draw from your value and strengths? Or do they tend to minimize your Godly views and instead lead you into their way of thinking? If our friends are foolish, intent on leading us away from Christ and towards an ... Read the Post
Peace for the Journey
Monday I went to a barbecue given by one of my friends. It was the first time that I had met any of her family. They were wonderful. They treated me as if they’d known me all of their lives – they treated me like…well, like family! I felt the same way. My friend comes from a large family. I enjoyed my time visiting with her sister, brothers, and all her friends. But the highlight of my evening was spending time talking with her “80-something” mother. What a precious woman of God; what a delightfully happy soul. She and I talked about many things – and the name of Jesus wove through our ... Read the Post
