Recently, I attended a very special prayer breakfast. I was invited to pray with some of the most precious women of God while we shared a cup of coffee. Now I’m not a coffee drinker, so I was at a bit of a loss. All of the prayer warriors had mugs of a sweet smelling Hawaiian brew, so I decided to give it a try. If this is what godly women did, I must participate! We eventually moved to the living room, stood in a circle, held hands and began praying. Their hearts opened up and spilled out praises and petitions before the Lord, and I was humbled. These were truly rare gems that God was ... Read the Post
Graduation
It’s hard to believe, but I am currently in the process of addressing high school graduation announcements for my oldest son! It seems like just yesterday that he was bouncing into a classroom for the very first time, and now he’s grown. He has gone from one stepping- stone to the next in such a flash; I can hardly keep up. I still see him as a little boy, but he’s spent the last eighteen years trying to break that mold! He’s changed so much in such a short time, and I am amazed at how God has uniquely “shaped” him. (I’m also amazed at the “senior-itus” that plagues him. Suddenly, he is ... Read the Post
Great is His Faithfulness
I don’t know about you, but there have been seasons in my life when it has seemed like all was lost. The old adage, “When it rains, it pours,” has rung true with me on countless occasions. There are times in our lives when it just doesn’t seem like God is answering our pleas for help fast enough, or maybe we feel He isn’t answering at all. In Lamentations 3:22, the writer announces that in spite of his sorrows and tribulation, God is worthy of his praise. Amazing, isn’t it? No matter what we may struggle with, God is faithful. Verse 22 begins with, “Yet this I call to mind and therefore, I ... Read the Post
Journaling
I’m a journaled...have been for years. I write my thoughts and especially my prayers down constantly. I write in journals, calendars, notebooks and just plain scratch paper. Because I quickly forget, I write anywhere on anything to help me remember what God has spoken. You can find my writing scattered around the house: my nightstand, my closet, under my bed or boxed up in storage. I don’t ever throw any of it away because I love to read over past writings and be encouraged with what God has shown me through the years. Just recently, I was digging through some of my old journals and ... Read the Post
Lay it Down…and Leave it There
Recently I was presented with a possible job opportunity. It was not just an ordinary job. It was an “I can’t believe I could get to do this; pinch me I must be dreaming!” kind of job. I was about to discover just where “somewhere over the rainbow” existed! Or so I thought. My excitement quickly turned to disappointment when it became evident that this was not God’s timing, and I would not be able to pursue this opportunity any further. It didn’t make sense. For a week I swallowed tears wondering if I was making a terrible mistake, wondering if I was truly hearing the voice of my Father and ... Read the Post
