This morning while driving to work, I had to pause a moment at the end of our street. The road ahead was under repair, leaving me uncertain if I could make my usual left turn. A smiling construction worker waved me forward with his orange flag, encouraging me to turn left in spite of the fact that huge utility vehicles were in the midst of tearing up the road.
Nonetheless, I took a leap of faith in the stranger’s direction and made the left turn. The drive was a little bumpy and required navigating around the work in progress, but I made it! As I was enjoying a little moment of success after uncertainty, I experienced a jolt of awareness, realizing how easily I trusted the direction of a total stranger but sometimes resist the guidance of my loving Savior.
In fact, if the truth be told, sometimes I ask everyone but God for guidance or advice. It was a humbling moment of truth between me and God. Thankfully, God used a tattered orange construction flag to remind me that He is present in every moment and situation in my life. Standing at the ready, knowing all He has planned for me, but waiting patiently for me to come to Him and trust Him with the big and small details in my life.
Memory Verse:
“This is what the Lord says – your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.’”
-Isaiah: 48:17 (NIV)
Prayer Prompt:
“Heavenly Father, thank You for your patient, unending love. Help me to feel Your presence, Lord, and turn to You for guidance and direction, trusting Your great plan for my life. I pray also for those who are struggling with indecision…”
