It’s funny how God seems to speak to me in the oddest places. This time it was the laundry room. I was sorting laundry and pondering my relationship with a good friend; I’ll call her Jane. I began by praying, “Thank You, Jesus, for giving me the opportunity to be close with Jane and the chance to show her what it means to have a personal relationship with you.”
Then I began to think about how giving Jane is and how she is always ready and willing to stop everything to help a friend including me. She is the kind of gal that accepts you just how you are. There is not a judging bone in her body. Before I could finish my prayer, God spoke ever so gently but no doubt firmly, straight to my heart.
I heard Him say, “I did not give you to her, Sunny; rather, I gave her to you, so that you might learn first hand what a real friend is.” Oh. I was immediately humbled. Jane did actually have a relationship with Jesus; it was just different than mine in some ways. God was telling me directly, “It is her I want you to learn from, not necessarily the other way around.”
Keep your ears open for the ways God may teach you, and never limit the people God may put in your path. They may be His way of reaching you!
Memory Verse:
“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”
-John 15:13 (NIV)
