The words of a toddler: “I want Daddy! Where is my daddy?”
I know it is normal for toddlers to go through stages where they prefer one parent to the other. Sometimes it is hard when you are not the parent they are wanting. My little boy wants to ride in Daddy’s truck, run with Daddy, go fly with Daddy, and, especially, go potty with Daddy. Sometimes it can get exhausting explaining to him that Daddy is not here or that he is out of town for a few days.
He wants his daddy NOW, and he will throw a fit. We are like that too. I find myself wanting my Daddy – my Heavenly Father. Many times I cry out, “Where are You, Father?”
Those are times I need to remember that Jesus is the pathway to my Father. I need to trust that He knows where my Father is: right next to me just waiting for me to come find Him. My little boy gets so excited the minute he hears the garage door open; he knows that Daddy is home and it’s time to play. I admit I like it too when the garage door opens and his dad is home.
However, I have to ask myself how often do I get excited about my Heavenly Father? Do I honestly get excited when I’m with Him? There are times when I’m in awe of my Father when He shows up in unexpected ways or answers a prayer. I admit that I have days and moments when I just want to run around in circles calling out, “Where’s my Father?” I realize that He’s been waiting for me with the garage door open the whole time.
Memory Verse:
“I’m the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
– John 14:4-6 (NIV)
Prayer Prompt:
“Thank You, God, for providing a way to You at all times. You are such a loving Father and Provider that I sometimes forget how blessed I am that even when I feel alone or not sure where You are, I can be sure of one thing: You are with me. Help me today to recognize You in…”
