Waiting outside for my husband to start a four mile race, I hear a small voice say, “Do you remember me?”
I look at the small dark-haired young lady and can’t recall her face. “No.” I say, “I can’t place you.”
She proceeds to remind me that she was one of the several Intensive Care Nurses that took care of me at the University Hospital in San Antonio after a major car wreck that nearly took my life. Even though it had been a little over a year ago, my eyes filled up with tears.
I don’t remember her face due to all the pain and medication I was on at the time, but I remember her kindness. This woman was one of my guardian angels. I loved her. I thanked God for her kindness on many occasions. She helped me through the most painful and miserable time of my life. Although she was just doing her job, she was also saving my life.
I gave her an enormous, long hug and began to thank her for everything she did for me. God gave me a chance to speak to my guardian angel and show her gratitude for her kindness. There are many others that I would like to thank but probably will never get a chance, at least not in this life. Is there someone special in your life that has helped you and cared for your needs? Do they know how much you appreciate them?
If you have contact with that person, give them a hug and a big “thank you” today. If you have no contact with them, say a special prayer for them. Your prayers will not go unnoticed.
Memory Verse:
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other, just as in fact as you are doing.”
-1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)
Prayer Prompt:
“Thank you for the people who have encouraged me in my life. Give me opportunities to encourage and uplift others, especially…”
