Do you ever notice that some women seem to become more beautiful with each passing year? It’s as if they have a glow about them which is rooted from deep within. I have several of these friends, and I have come to realize that their beauty has nothing to do with their outward appearance. It has everything to do with their relationship with Christ and those they love.
Society would have us believe that beauty is attainable with the right products, the right clothes, and, sometimes, the right surgeon. I know that these things are all temporary fixes, but many of us have come to feel we don’t have a choice except to join the masses. When I look to God, His word tells me something very different.
He tells me that I am beautiful simply because I am His. In John and Staci Eldridge’s book, Captivating, they refer to a woman becoming beautiful “when she knows she’s loved.” What peace that can bring to a woman’s heart! It doesn’t mean I shouldn’t eat healthy, workout or never put on a drop of makeup. I think it means my main focus should be on becoming more Christ-like.
Through prayer, reading God’s Word, serving others, and being open to the will of God; we can find our true beauty. It may cost a little time, but the benefits will last for eternity. No surgery or latest make-up tool can do that.
Memory Verse:
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
-Proverbs 31:30 (NIV)
Prayer Prompt:
