I never knew how much sacrifice it would take to have children and to raise them. It’s like our society sweeps the importance of being a mother under a rug. Being a mom just doesn’t seem to be a big deal compared to a woman’s appearance, her education or her resume. I know as a youth, I took my mom for granted. But as I care for both my sons, I’ve come to appreciate my mom and all moms everywhere.
Mothers really do rock! From the moment my first baby was conceived, my entire life became a living sacrifice: a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual sacrifice. And because of this, I am in awe of Jesus’ sacrifice for us. It’s hard just having two kids; I can’t imagine sacrificing myself for billions of people from the past, present and future. Talk about being emotionally and physically drained by the end of the day!
And although I really don’t comprehend the depth of Jesus’ sacrifice for me, I want to tell Him daily that I appreciate what He did for an undeserving person like me. I want to live my life to be worthy of such a sacrifice. I know the world sweeps what Jesus did for us under the rug too, but I’m determined not to. I want God and everyone to know that I love being a Christian.
My life is filled with unending hope, peace and love because of what Jesus did for me on the cross. I sacrifice gladly for my children knowing that Jesus died for them too.
Memory Verse:
“He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”
– 1 John 2:2 (NIV)
Prayer Prompt:
“Lord, please constantly remind me of the awesome sacrifice You made for me, so that I can live in Your hope, Your peace and Your love! I want to daily show You my gratitude starting with sharing Your sacrifice with others. Bring people to mind with whom I can share Your sacrifice with…”
